what’s different about a forest therapy walk?
What makes a guided walk different is right away a guide will slow you to a pace which is like no other. Oooh! It is so slow. After a slow start we will then get you enjoying the big 5 senses which I promise, will slow the mind. Here is where the trained guide will take you on a walking journey with the intent to keep the mind & body calm & quiet; as we keep opening nature’s doors for you to enjoy the many other senses that will trigger old memories, past times and refreshing new beginnings. Unlike hiking, fly fishing or Nordic skiing, which offer their own attraction, a guided walk will offer a sensory foundation that will enhance all of what you do in the outdoors or indoors. You will find a restorative well-being of better focus, clarity of thought, decision making, calmness & creative expression.
health benefits
This practice originated in Japan, where it is called Shinrin Yoku or Forest Bathing. Cone and needle trees (conifers) produce an organic compound called phytoncides which help ward off threatening bugs and fungi. In 1982, the Japanese started researching the benefits for humans when bathing in the phytoncides of the forest and were astounded to discover:
🌲 reduced stress and anxiety
🌲 happy heart - lower blood pressure, lower heart rate, increased heart variability
🌲 less mental activity, offering improved clarity, memory, and less “Busy Brain”
🌲 improved sleep and mood
🌲 immune system strengthening
🌲 increased and improved natural killer cells (white blood cells) to fight cancer, infections and viruses
it’s simple and it really works!
makes sense
Forest Therapy Guides offer door-opening invitations for you to engage with the rich ingredients of nature. You will find how powerful the relationship is between your senses and the forest as you slowly make foot prints upon the land while on a 3 hour walk.
just imagine…
Our imaginations are so creative and what better place to privately play with your own than with the elements of the natural world. I will open doors for you to calm and relax the mind & body with a flood of colour, light and patterns of forest, water & sky, and imaginative freedom.
